THE ROYAL CELEBRATION
This year marks the 60th anniversary of King Bhumibol Aduyadej accession to the throne, while Thailand celebrate Queen Sirikit's birthday on 12th August (the day before we depart).
With the royal family highly-revered by the Thais, it's common to see people wearing yellow (symbolized the King) and sky blue (symbolized the Queen) on streets everywhere you go, as the locals celebrate these two occasions.
It's a common sight to see huge billboards, flags and
etc. that read "LONG LIVE THE KING" |
