LuoPing (罗平)
LuoPing - a town distance away from Kunming, known for its cultivating
of "Rape Blossom" (pretty funny name but it is called "you-cai-hua" 油菜花 in
Mandarin)- an ingredient in making cooking oil and honey.
Along the highway, plots of "Rape Blossom" greeted us along the way.
It was foggy along the way, good thing is it's not haze we experienced
back home.
The sad fact was the telecast of this event by the local broadcaster was pretty sloppy and poorly edited.
We crossed the provincial border to Guizhou - one of the least developed areas in China (based on the smoothness of the road travelled which is hilly and rocky)
To be precise, we were at the border area between Yunnan and Guizhou known as 黔西南州 (兴义市)。
Ma-Lin River Valley
Ma-Lin River Valley(马岭河峡谷) is the result of natural catastrophe.
It achieved its nature form of rock and hilly structures after numerous
earthquakes.
"Star Gallery"(天星画廊) is probably the scenic part of the
valley.

万峰湖
Wanfenghu & 万峰林Wangfenglin (Lake and Forest of
Ten Thousand Peaks)What a day to start the journey to 万峰湖 (Wanfenghu) when our coach collided with a car which was making an illegal counter direction movement.
Good thing was nobody was injured but unnecessary delay was caused.
But thanks to the swift actions and initiatives by the guides, everything went smoothly.
Another hilly trail saw us at Wanfenghu.
- Wanfenghu is an artificial lake
- 144 kilometres long
- covering an area of 175 square kilometres,
- formed by the construction of the Tianshengqiao Hydropower Station
- It is bounded by the mountain peaks of Wanfenglin on all sides, hence its name.
- It is one of the five biggest freshwater lakes in China.
One look can easily tell why it is called 万峰林, literary means "Ten Thousands Peaks".
布依族- one of minority tribes formed the largest community in this area.
